UNSTABLE BOND II

Mixed media real time video installation, 2016

The sculpture employs a magnetic field to create resisting physical forces that define the unseen space around objects. Projected in real time, the enlarged scale acquires a habitual behavior. The resulting tension between objects and forces, existing in this hybrid state of objects, allows one to confront emotional forces. One that vibrates with instability and stimulates an acceptance of irrational.

Instability naturally generates tension through opposing forces; for example, buoyancy, the state or quality of floating by force, fights gravity; or magnetism, the force of attraction produced by electric currents or magnetic materials upon steel, also counters gravity.  I’ve found that the construct of unstable bonds is capable of expressing unique psychological interactions between actual objects. By balancing opposing forces a sense of physiological surrender is achieved. Ordinary and elemental objects learn to coexist overtime.

UNSTABLE BOND II_47

Unstable bond II_47 is a real time video projection that brings together the real and the unreal, distorts perceptions of space and time, and initiates a dialogue between real and fictitious worlds. The sculpture employs a magnetic field to create resisting physical forces that define the unseen space around objects.
